Happy Birthday, William Russ! Born Oct 20, 1950, in Portsmouth, Virginia, Russ has amassed over 140 credits including starring in 154 episodes of the popular sitcom “Boy Meets World.” One of his earliest roles was in Burt Lancaster's last western, "Cattle Annie & Little Britches" (1981), co-starring Rod Steiger. That film may have top-billed these two Oscar-winning actors, but it was the cast of young "stars to be" that gives the film its special allure today. In the title roles were Diane Lane as Little Britches and, making her film debut, Amanda Plummer as Cattle Annie.

The then 27-year-old NY actor remembers the excitement of horseback riding in New York City in preparation for his Los Angeles audition. He passed the test and was whisked off to the location in Mexico to work with Lancaster, Steiger, Scott Glenn, Buck Taylor, rodeo champion Kenny Call, and two fresh-faced actresses in the true story of two teenage girls who join the Doolin-Dalton gang. The film was directed by Lamont Johnson and produced by Rupert Hitzig. Russ also discusses appearing as another outlaw in "The Young Riders," co-starring with his wife, series regular Clare Wren.
