► The announcement of Prince Philip's death, at the age of 99, came from Buckingham Palace shortly after midday.

It said that he passed away at Windsor Castle this morning, and spoke of the Queen's deep sorrow, saying the Royal Family joined with people around the world, in mourning his loss.
