Famous for the twin mountain ranges of 'Aja and Salma, and for being the homeland of historic symbol of curiosity and generosity, Hatim al-Ta`i, Hail is the eighth-largest province by area and the ninth-largest by population. The area is known to have been inhabited since at least the Paleolithic period, with several archaeological sites dating back to 10000 BC to 7500 BC. Several sites with archaeological rock art and other artifacts have been found in the province.

Hatim Tai is the name which comes first in everyone’s mind whenever we talk about Ha’il city. Hail exploration is always considered incomplete without paying a visit to Hatim Tai’s place and grave. This vlog would also be incomplete if I don’t tell you his brief story.

Hatim lived in Tai (present day Hail region of Saudi Arabia) for which he is called Hatim al-Tai and was the ruling prince and poet of the Tai tribe of Arabia. Stories about his extreme generosity have made him an icon among Arabs up until today, as evident in the proverbial phrase "more generous than Hatim". He died in 578 AD before the birth of Islam but his son, Adi ibn Hatim, accepted Islam and was a companion of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and was also acknowledged for his generosity.

According to legends in various books and stories, he was a famous personality in the region of Ta'i (present day Ha'il) and is also a well-known figure in the rest of the Middle East as well as the Indian subcontinent, featuring in many books, films and TV series in Arabic, Persian, Urdu, Turkish, Hindi and various other languages.

He lived in the sixth century CE and also figures in the Arabian Nights stories. The celebrated Persian poet Saadi, in his work Gulistan (1259 CE) wrote: "Hatim Taï no longer exists but his exalted name will remain famous for virtue to eternity. Distribute the tithe of your wealth in alms; for when the husbandman lops off the exuberant branches from the vine, it produces an increase of grapes". He was buried in Tuwarin, Hail after his death in 578 AD and his tomb is described in the Arabian Nights.
