A 1 Mile Wide Explosion Crater; Mexico's Active Pinacate Volcano

Описание к видео A 1 Mile Wide Explosion Crater; Mexico's Active Pinacate Volcano

Just across the Arizona border with Mexico is a massive 1 mile wide and 720 foot deep explosion crater. This massive feature formed due to a powerful volcanic eruption where magma contacted underlying groundwater to generate a large explosion. Yet, the aforementioned feature known as Crater El Elegante is one of only 500 vents in a broader volcanic complex known as the Pinacate volcanic field. This volcano may even have erupted as recently as the 20th century based on reports from that century.
