Manual therapy and stretching of the tongue are performed for various reasons and in multiple ways. Many scare me, as the level of aggressiveness seems unnecessary. I have been teaching manual therapy for the tongue for years, but do so in a gentle manner, allowing a drop in guarding and an uptick in awareness. Recently, we have incorporated some novel methods for providing manual input during exercise. While exercise may build strength from a traditional muscle strengthening perspective, it also enhances awareness and capabilities.

This 2-hour class explores the underlying mechanisms of manual therapy and exercise, providing demonstrations on how to incorporate this work into practice.
