During the peak of the COVID-19 outbreak, I wanted to see how shopping has changed throughout the city. On April 2020, I took a look through a shopping mall in the Vancouver area. The mall was definitely opened, but most of the shops were closed. Fast forward a few months later in June 2020, people started to filter back into the malls. The economists were right; there was pent up demand in the retail industry and people are back in the malls shopping again. Unfortunately, not everyone is wearing a mask.

I took the footage from both days to generate a comparison video to illustrate the shopping experience between the two time-frames.

Tsawwassen Mills is a shopping mall on Tsawwassen First Nations land, in Delta, British Columbia. The mall was built by Ivanhoé Cambridge Inc. and opened on October 5, 2016. It features 1.2 million square feet of retail space and a 1,100 seat food court. It features 200 retailers, including Bass Pro Shops as well as its sister chain Uncle Bucks, and Saks Off 5th. It is modeled after the successful CrossIron Mills outside Calgary, and Vaughan Mills in Vaughan, Ontario.
