"The Forest Walk" - A Multi-Halo OST Mini-Medley/Mix

Описание к видео "The Forest Walk" - A Multi-Halo OST Mini-Medley/Mix

This video is not monetized, and all pieces used have been trimmed/edited/mixed. Four of the pieces were composed by Martin O'Donnell/Michael Salvatori (of Bungie Studios circa 2001, 2004, 2007, and 2010) for Halos CE, 2, 3, and Reach (respectively); and two of the pieces were arranged by Paul Lipson/Lennie Moore/Brian Trifton/Brian Lee White/Tom Salta (of 343 Industries circa 2011 and 2014) for Halos CEA and 2A (respectively). I doubt saying these things will stop potential copyright strikes, but it was worth a shot... :P

Here's yet another of my all-time favorite Halo tracks getting a mini-medley! From the deep background bass of the original, to the surreal (almost organ-like) take of the CE anniversary version, to the light (but epic) march of the 2 version, to the heavy (almost blaring) march of the 2 anniversary version, to the mixed (and more percussive) take of the 3 version, or to the climactic brass in the Reach version, I've loved every single rendition of this melody (and I sincerely hope that 343i considers remaking it for their next game)!

Now on the technical side of things, I should say that this isn't my typical mini-medley approach. It certainly started the standard way where I would simply attach the songs end to end, but that brought up a number of issues that needed to be corrected: First, it created significant contrasts in percussion across the tracks that were a tad distracting (at least to me), so to compensate for this, I duplicated the percussion interludes of the CE, CEA, 2, and 2A so that they extended out into the surrounding tracks (hopefully making the percussion sound more consistent throughout). Second, the CEA melody was a little too soft to function on its own (plus the medley is long enough already), so I overlaid the first section of the Reach version to bolster it. Third, the CE, CE,A and Reach versions turned out to be quite different in terms of tempo compared to the others, so they had to be altered in order to fit together (as well as have a consistent overall tempo for the medley). Finally, the Reach version was in an entirely different key compared to the rest, so I raised/lowered the pitch depending on which parts it was aligned with. Hopefully it all came together nicely!

In case you were curious, the layout of the medley is as follows:

"A Walk in the Woods," then "Lions and Tigers and..." with "Walking Away" (Brass), then "Heretic Hero" with "Zealous Champion" (the latter fades in halfway through), then "Released," then finally it ends on "Walking Away" (Vocals).

Anyways, enjoy! :)

I also made a second version of this mini-medley where the H3 version is overlaid on the H2(A) version. You can check it out by clicking the second card in the corner of the video, or by clicking this link:    • "The Forest Walk" (Second Version)

7:18 - The Fancy emote. A most unorthodox design to say the least!
