HealthBridge Foundation of Canada, International Nepal Fellowship (Nepal) and local stakeholders are implementing a maternal, newborn and child health program in Banke District of Nepal. Health and nutrition of women and their children is generally poor in this region.

Mothers' Group meetings are facilitated by an extraordinary network of women called "female community health volunteers (FCHV)." They educate women and their family members about the importance of seeking care during and after pregnancy and giving birth with the help of a skilled birth attendant. They teach local women about nutrition, breastfeeding and help to monitor the growth and development of local children. FCHV provide cooking demonstrations using local, nutritious foods. Thousands of women attend the meetings each month and learn together in a supportive environment.
