Transcript: Employees and workers are entitled to statutory annual leave under the Working Time Regulations, but what does this look like during the covid-19 pandemic. You may have booked annual leave and wish to cancel it, whether you can do so will depend on your contract of employment. If there's no absolute right to take or to cancel leave, you're likely to need your employer's consent. If you have been furloughed your employer can insist that you take your annual leave during the period, but must give twice as many days notice. The Working Time Regulations have been amended to create an exemption relating to covid-19. Employees can now carry over up to four weeks of their leave into the next two years. The regulations don't limit the carry over of leave to key workers. You may be allowed to postpone leave or carry it over in certain situations. For example, if you're too sick and need to self isolate, if you are temporarily sent home due to a lack of work or if you have to continue to work and cannot take a paid holiday.
