The Lower Owyhee River by Packraft

The Owyhee River, in southeastern Oregon is such a gem. We spent 5 days/4 nights from Rome to Birch Creek, a distance of approx. 50 miles/78km. The flow was an average of 2700 ft3/s for this period, a fun class 2/3 level, and the weather was perfect. We stopped by riverside hot springs, caves, desert tower formations, and saw lizards, rattlesnakes, owls, and many other soaring birds. Iron Point canyon with its towering walls, roaring rapids, and beach oases is a stunning place to experience.
