Here's a tutorial on Abstract Drawing With Oil Pastels or how to draw / paint an oil pastel landscape in 5 minute using only 3 colors. It’s a great oil pastel tutorial for beginner.

As mentioned in the video all you have to do is pick 3 colors: one for the sky, one for the land and one dark color for the horizon line. You create a gradient for the sky and land making the oil pastel go from very saturated to very light towards the horizon line (the center of the page). Then all you have to do is create the horizon and focus of the painting by doodling some swirly lines suggesting trees or mountains or rocks. It’s super easy, super fun and very beautiful.
