Salt is something that you usually don’t want in your soil or growing medium. I recently learned that salt can have a positive effect on the resiliency of plants though. In this video you will find out how!

Experiment setup:
We used Dwarf tomatoes. While transplanting we added 0.5g Oosmycote as fertiliser. After about 2 weeks in which we let the plants get established we started the treatment with salt. Around 100 mmols of NaCl were added to 1 litre of water which we used for watering half of the plants. The other plants were watered with water from the same tap, without the addition of salt. As there was an automatic watering system setup we put the pots on trays to make sure they only got the water we provided.
