What documents paperwork bills and information does my bankruptcy lawyer need? In this video we are to discuss all the various forms of paperwork that you must provide your bankruptcy attorney in order for your attorney to complete your bankruptcy filing and provide the bankruptcy trustee with the required paperwork. This paperwork will include pay stubs payment advices six months of pay stubs which include everything from work on employment disability or any other form of income. Tax returns, you will need to provide three years’ worth of tax returns to your bankruptcy attorney and if you have not file the last three years of tax returns and should have you must do this prior to filing bankruptcy. You must also provide monthly bank statements or credit union statements going back seven months from the point of filing. Your bankruptcy attorney will also need credit reports from all three credit reporting bureaus. If you come to the Laurel offices of the Botelho Law Group, we will provide all of these current reports for you on one easy-to-read statement, this is included in your bankruptcy legal fees. You will also need information on any and all motor vehicles you own including title, loan documentation, valuation, proof of insurance and registration. A list of residence independents who live and reside in your household must also be provided and dependents that do not live in your household also. If you have previously filed bankruptcy within the last eight years your bankruptcy lawyer will need documentation of this also. You also need to provide creditor information such as your debts, bills, demand letters and lawsuits. All paperwork pertaining to your retirement accounts and life insurance including 401(k)s, IRAs, life insurance and any other form of life insurance or retirement account. If you are a homeowner owe on real property you’ll have to provide the following documents: deed, Homestead, mortgage information including the first and last page of the mortgage the signature page and the notarization page and any foreclosure notices you have received, valuation of the property, property tax bills, insurance, and escrow account statements. If you have any proceedings in Family Court such as divorce, child support, child custody and divorce agreements please provide these to your bankruptcy attorney. You will also need to provide proof of identity in the form of one state issued photo identification and one that proves Social Security number such as your passport and Social Security number.
