Speaker: There is a lot of intersection of good business practices with the philosophies of Improv.
Kamal: I think what surprised me about the workshop was how applicable it is to business life and corporate life in particular, and how to think on your feet, and this workshop provides you the skills and tools how to be creative that’s really important as well.
Speaker: Analysis, paralysis where you’re thinking so much in your head and you keep judging each little idea that you’re never giving yourself the ability to just voice something.
David: Trying to get my head out of just being around right brain regimented control in terms of the work that you do.
Kamal: We just get into this humdrum of, you know, reading the Hub Business Review, say for example, or a business textbook. Here, it really expands your mind to think differently about existing problems.
Speaker: The idea of divergent thinking and convergent thinking, which happens innately in an Improv scene because we’ve created an environment where we have freedom and liberty to express our opinions.
Kate: Rather than shutting down an idea, immediately, you just absorb everything, and then pick out the best parts.
Elise: Something that I learned in the course that I would definitely take out back into daily life is yeah, the concept of the yes, and, just building on other people’s ideas.
Tim: I can always try to build on top of what other people have said rather than pitching a new idea or trying to negate the idea that is on the table. In my job, it’s always important to involve the client and sort of see where it takes us together.
Speaker: The philosophy is ensemble. We’re working together as a team. I’m looking out for you, you’re looking out for me, and because of that, we are all going to succeed.
David: You’re responsible for your teammates as well as yourself, and you know, in the office, I think that’s critical to have good teamwork and have good progress.
Speaker: There’s three key elements to growing and moving in a positive direction: react, adapt, communicate.
Yvette: He thinks he’s going to go a certain way, and you wanted to go that way, and then it doesn’t, and you react to that obviously. You adapt to it, and then communicate how you feel about it, and then move forward. It’s the flexibility of that is fantastic.
Ainsley: One of the statements that was made about specificity kills ambiguity, and that’s really helpful for communication and giving people something to work with.
Ken: I definitely learned how to be a better communicator, to be clearer and more impactful with the things I talk about.
David: Really reinforcing the value of building empathy and understanding and listening and connecting with people genuinely.
Speaker: We show you how the philosophies of Improv connects with your business based on true practicality and proven scientific method.
