Today hundreds of students were protesting in front of the Baku State University (BSU), against the Cabinet of Ministers' rule on extra payment for course hours. The protest was organized on Facebook social network.



The protesters were shouting "Don't pick our pockets, you greedy!", "Let's not give money for exam failure!", "Don't break the law, don't make a false law!", etc. "We have paid for our credits, but now when we are graduating from the university, they say we have academic debt. These are violation of the law," said one of the students.


Correspondent of the Voice of America radio, photographer of Turan information agency and several other journalists were subjected to pressure. Some of the students were attacked by the University guards. The guards were particularly rude towards journalists and students. Several students and journalists were detained by the police.



Rector of the University, Abel Maharramov told the journalists that the issue, which has caused the protest, is being discussed by the Ministry of Education. He called on the students to settle the disagreement within the university.



The police called on the students to leave the yard of the University, which was complied with. But a few hours later the protest revived near a subway station.
