The 100 foot sandstone cliffs on the shores on Lake Superior in Keweenaw Bay cannot be seen by the passerby as they travel on US 41 north into the Copper Country. These cliffs extend roughly 2 miles with another small set of 5-25ft sandstone cliffs to the north of these.

-Site History-
The Baraga Cliffs area is located in the Keweenaw Bay area. This area once was a processing area for copper ore that came from the Mass City mine. There is a building just to the north (seen in pic 2 A frame building) of the Baraga Cliffs rest area that is the Michigan Stamp Mill building, to the south is the Keweenaw Bay stamp mill. The Keweenaw Bay stamp mill was built in 1900 and was in use until 1919. The Michigan Stamp Mill was built about 1906 and it never opened due to economic problems at the time.
