Detroit Ship Building Company (1910) Triple Expansion Steam Engine condition on 01 July 2023 after some white primer.
This engine has a unique history with many plans, and dreams since it was purchased from Port Colborne, Ontario scrap yard for $20,000.00 in 2006. Back in 2006 the engine was planned to be apart of the Bass Pro Great Lakes store in Buffalo, New York. Bidco had it at their property the former Buffalo Dry dock Company where in 1910 the SS Canadiana was built. The engine was made in Detroit and brought to Buffalo to be installed in the ship. A preservation group wanted to save the complete vessel, but NYDOT funds were reportedly pulled. The engine made it's new home in Alexander, New York with the WNY Gas & Steam Engine Association. In September annually they have a show highlighting this engine among many Steam & Gas Tractors.

Link to Naval Architect whom designed the SS Canadiana(1910) & SS Columbia(1902) currently in Buffalo, as well as the SS Wawatam Mackinaw Strait ferry(1911). The SS Columbia(1902) is docked near silo city in Buffalo, N.Y., while the SS Wawatam has been cut up, here two engines re-main. One is housed in Wisconsin Maritime Museum Manitowoc, indoors restored, while the other is at a feed store along Route 2 in St. Ignace, Michigan.
