Note that this is only a sound comparison, and they are both are very good units with different pros and cons.

I think the Simrad is a litte more robust internally and it autotacks better for example, but it's noisier than the Raymarine especially in calm conditions where Raymarine is very quiet and easy to ignore. The Simrad makes a pretty loud noise even on small course corrections in calm seas.

Both autopilots were calibrated and dialed in to my best knowledge with auto dead band and adequate response level, and they both steer very well on my 4,2 tonne long keeler in almost any condition.
