Rajesh Roshan, music composer on his father and career

Rajesh Roshan, music composer and younger brother of Indian filmmaker Rakesh Roshan speaks about his father Roshan and his career. He says, " I was in 8th standard when my father died and he never pressurized me to learn music but I used to listen to his compositions and the records we used to listen to at that time was of R. D. Burman, Madan Mohan etc. so the finest music was always coming to me. The truth is I was not that much influenced by is music at that time I like to listen to S. D. Burman, Shankar Jaikishan etc. and I used to often tell him that papa why don't you compose fast music like this and he used to say I will try but now I am realizing the there is a peace of mind in slow music which is not in fast music.

I never thought of becoming a musician because at that time kids were not that much sharp as today's kids. My mother forced me to get into music industry she started learning music from Faiyaz Ahmed Khan and along with her my interest developed in music. When I got training in music my mother requested Anand Bakshi who is a family friend of ours for my job with any good music director and he took me to visit Laxmikant Pyarelal who was a good friend of Anand Bakshi and I got the film music training from Laxmikant Pyarelal. I spent five years with him and Mehmood gave me the first break in film 'Kunwara Baap'
