What is biblical hospitality?

Описание к видео What is biblical hospitality?

What is hospitality, and how do we practice it?

What are the first three attributes that come to your mind when you think of Jesus? Take a moment to write or think about your answers.

Which three attributes did you choose? Loving? Gracious? Kind? Merciful? Compassionate? Holy? Just? Humble? Gentle? Forgiving? Patient? Self-controlled? Obedient? Honest? Prayerful? Did you pick any attributes outside of this list?

Where does Christ’s hospitality rank on your list? Perhaps you have rarely or never thought about hospitality as an attribute of Christ. After all, how could Jesus be hospitable if he never even owned a house?

Hospitality includes much more than cleaning up your home before having guests over for dinner (although that’s certainly a wonderful way to love and serve others!). The beautiful attribute of hospitality is something anyone can demonstrate—and it wonderfully reflects the heart of Christ.

In today’s video, the Director of Chapelstreet Kids for our Mill Creek campus, Libby Tate explains the true meaning of hospitality, and how we can reflect this beautiful, Christlike quality in our lives.

A Prayer for Today
Loving Father, thank you for calling me to yourself when I was far from you. Thank you for adopting me, making me your child, and welcoming me into your family. Thank you for rescuing me from the domain of darkness and transferring me into the kingdom of your beloved Son. Thank you for giving me an eternal family of brothers and sisters in Christ. Thank you for taking up residence in my heart, dwelling with me in this life, and preparing for me an eternal home full of joy and peace. You are so good to me. Help me to reflect your love and welcoming heart to those around me today. Bring many more people into your family, including my loved ones. I love you, Lord. Amen.

Luke 10:40–42: “But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, ‘Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!’ ‘Martha, Martha,’ the Lord answered, ‘you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.’”
