In high school box lacrosse action, the South Bay youth lacrosse club team, Leverage Lacrosse (JV), beat Loyola, 15-6, on December 4th, 2011 at Wilson Sports Park in Torrance, CA to win the JV championship.

Leverage Lacrosse is a Not-For-Profit Lacrosse Organization based in Redondo Beach, but serving all of the South Bay and West Los Angeles.

The sole purpose of this NPO is to foster the growth of lacrosse while creating a learning environment where Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes, Torrance, El Segundo, and all South Bay kids can grow their lacrosse skills and knowledge.

Leverage Lacrosse has also partnered up with the City of Manhattan Beach to provide beginner classes for elementary school aged boys and girls interested in learning the basic fundamentals of lacrosse. Leverage Lacrosse will offer coaching seminars along with lacrosse clinics, lacrosse camps, lacrosse leagues and lacrosse club teams for boys 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade, 6th grade, middle school and high school.

These South Bay lacrosse club teams will be coached by Chris Jewett and other Leverage Lacrosse coaches, and will play under the name Mustangs. Most of the boys playing for the Leverage Lacrosse club teams will end up playing high school lacrosse at Mira Costa for Coach Jewett.

The idea of having a youth lacrosse club in and around Redondo, Hermosa, Manhattan, Palos Verdes (PV) Torrance and the rest of the South Bay is to have these boys learn Coach Jewett's lacrosse system and philosophy under the same group of coaches from the time they are in elementary school through high school.

Playing together all the way through builds team chemistry, allows Coach Jewett to develop valuable relationships with his players and most importantly, Leverage Lacrosse provides an opportunity for these boys to be a part of something greater than themselves.

Chris Jewett grew up in Providence Rhode Island. While in High School he was All-Prep / All-State Quarterback, 3 time All-State in Lacrosse, Captain of his H.S. Lacrosse team, All S.E.N.E., RI Indoor Lacrosse All-Star, invited to play at N.E. 150 and Top 205 Lacrosse camps and was a member of the New England East vs West game. Chris then went on to play Division 1 Lacrosse at Providence College.

Coach Jewett has been coaching youth lacrosse, club lacrosse, box lacrosse middle school lacrosse, and high school lacrosse in the L.A. / South Bay area since 2007. First as Head Middle School Coach at Brentwood, and then as Head JV Coach and Assistant Varsity Coach at Peninsula High School. He has coached youth lacrosse through H.S. club lacrosse teams since 2008 and taught basic, fundamental lacrosse classes to elementary school boys & girls throughout the South Bay.

Since the 2011 lacrosse season, he has been the Head Varsity Coach at Mira Costa High School. Chris led Mira Costa to a Bay League title, LA County Championship and a spot in the CIF Southern Section Finals in his first season as head coach. For his efforts, he was named 2011 Bay League Coach of the Year. Together with his wife Amber and a business partner, they own HIP Studio, a Pilates and fitness studio in Hermosa Beach, CA.
