Fly Tying - the Easiest Wooly Bugger! Complete Beginner's Instructions

Описание к видео Fly Tying - the Easiest Wooly Bugger! Complete Beginner's Instructions

One of the most versatile patterns in the fly fishing world. This easy tie can be tied in a variety of colors and styles, weighted or unweighted, bead or no bead, flash or no flash. If you are at the "Fly Tying for Beginners" phase this is a great streamer fly pattern to start with. Recipe:

Hook: #6-12 streamer
Thread: Black, or to match your colors
Tail: Marabou with strands of Krystal Flash
Rib: Optional- flash, tinsel or wire wrap
Body: Chenille or yarn, your color of choice
Hackle: Dyed saddle hackle, palmered

While this can be tied in a variety of colors, I have found the darker versions (with a little flash) to be the most effective while trout fishing in the rivers and streams in the Mid-Atlantic region. Sure, build one with some red and white, or pink and purple. It can still be a great attractor streamer pattern!

Savage Flies is a new project (named after one of my homewaters, the Savage River in Western Maryland, US). I hope to post at least 3 videos a week while continuing my own learning of the craft of fly tying. I've been trout fishing for many years but have only been tying for the last couple and am learning more every week. If you have any pointers on techniques that would help, I would love to hear them in the comments.

Thanks for checking out the video. I hope you'll consider subscribing.
