Meowdy folks!
As I mentioned last month, we are changing the format of this monthly post to share about the different contributors that make this whole series-of-projects-in-a-trench-coat shenanigan go!
My first spotlight for 2023 is Lee Hulme (it/its) pronouns.
This interview has no content warnings; it's pretty wholesome.
So, usually, this is where I'd put a land acknowledgment, but Lee is from the UK, where the colonizers started. I want to acknowledge the Coast Salish people.
Sign?
➼ Taurus
How do you identify?
➼ Trans, nonbinary, agender, disabled, autistic, mentally ill, neurodivergent, and demi-ace.
What are your special interests? Hobbies? Favorite fandom?
➼ Readin, writin, gamin (all kinds). Being sat on by cats (that's more of an enforced hobby).
How did you find the Clowder? Want to tell us your origin story with the community?
➼ I caught a tweet in 2021 about a stream for TDoR looking for readers. I responded, did the thing, and never left. Then I just kept diving further and further in, and now everyone is stuck with me.
What do you contribute to the Clowder?
➼ I'm the Lead Discord Mod, so mostly an overview role with some specifics. Everyone there is friendly and kind, and the mods keep the community - Discord & Clowder - safe and comfy, so folk can be themselves without fear, knowing a team has them covered in the event of any issues. I'm looking forward to more growth, so we can extend our resources and mutual aid and teaching efforts.
What do you love about The Clowder? Why is the community and its content important to you?
➼ I can be myself. That's really the all-encompassing thing. I don't fear backlash and meanness from people when posting there. It's the first community I've gotten really involved in for years, and it's because it's built from the ground up to be safe and cosy.
Please share your gratitude for our patrons in your own words - feel free to share anything you've been able to buy with the tips and/or patronage the Clowder currently receives.
➼ I'm disabled, my partner is my carer, and even without the cost-of-living crisis, we barely got by on benefits. The little bit of money every month usually arrives at the exact moment when we need it for a food top-up. And I know that as patrons sign on, Meowster gets closer to being able to pay folk, which, for a kind person like our Meowster, is really important. Everyone who supports here supports everything Meowster and the rest of us are trying to do.
