One of Justinian's most notable achievements was the creation of the Corpus Juris Civilis, or the body of Civil Law. This monumental work initiated in 5, 29 a. D. Aim to consolidate and simplify the vast array of Roman laws that had evolved over centuries. Justinian recognised that a coherent legal framework was essential for maintaining order and justice within the empire. The Corpus juriscivalus is composed of four main parts, the Codex Justinianas, which compiled existing laws, the digesta or pandecti, which summarized legal opinions from prominent jurists, the institutions and introductory textbook for legal students, and finally, the Novelli, a collection of new laws enacted during Justinians reign. Together, these texts provided a comprehensive legal foundation that addressed civil rights, property laws and legal procedures.
