(Disclaimer: If your motherboard can handle a higher load/increase in temps, turn off Cool & Quiet in the bios along with other power management features that favor throttling. This will help with stutter/frame drops some and in general, contribute to maximum performance. Also keep in mind that recording utilities do have some impact on performance. And lastly, the goal of any given test is to see if the game can at least be run at some kind of console experience, if not better. Due to that, if necessary, I will point out if a frame cap would be ideal.)

Testing Space Marine 2 out on the AMD FX-8350, with the RTX 3060 12GB, and 32GB system ram with SSD for game storage. Low preset was used. Normally I do not post videos of games I do not consider playable enough to merit a look on the FX-8350. This game however teeters back and forth performance wise enough that it makes you want to try to keep playing. My understanding of this game is that the dev team set 30fps as the target frame rate to keep the game playable on consoles.

Due to that, the game does feel perfectly fine when you sit in that 30FPS range, and still looks decent even at the Low preset. However, as you will see about 25 mins into the video, when the swarms get massive, you will start to see the framerate drop hard into the mid 20s. Then eventually hits the low 20 fps range. Its possible this performance drop could be shored up some with a major OC on the FX-8350/8370. I'm not sure. Due to that, I'd have a hard time suggesting this game as a purchase if a FX setup was the most powerful PC you had on hand.

As is, interesting that it runs as good as it does, given everything that goes on in the game. As the end of the year draws near, I don't think there is going to be too much else worth testing. For those that might be wondering, can confirm that Alan Wake 2 will not run on FX due to lack of AVX2. Jedi Survivor will run, but make you wish it didn't once you get to the open world area of Koboh.

Still, in spite of titles like those having issues, enough has come out that does run to show the FX-8350 did go the distance. Phenoms and C2Q, along with older 4C/4T i5 and below did not get to enjoy this long a service life with modern titles (12 years). As this channel/project was never about trying to tell people they don't need anything newer though, I would highly suggest anyone still using FX in their main gaming setups to try their best to migrate over to a newer platform soon. In the very least, a AM4 setup with a Ryzen 2nd or 3rd gen processor.
