Boston Public Library - Palace for the people

Boston Public Library designed by Charles Follen McKim and built by Rafael Guastavino Sr. in 1895. This was the first big project in the US by the Guastavino Company where they introduced a modern interpretation of the traditional Catalan tile vaults. The Boston Public Library contains various types of vaults with different tiling patterns and therefore became a showcase for the capabilities of the Guastavino Company.
