Hey, guys! As Netflix releases Archive 81, its latest dive into the horror genre, the question is whether there is going to be Season 2 for Archive 81. We don’t think so, UNLESS the new show delivers astonishing viewership numbers, which is unlikely because the horror genre of horror is not everyone’s cup of tea. Also, horror and thriller shows don’t make the same impact if they go on for a long time. They are designed to have a concrete beginning and end. At the same time, the original podcast that Archive 81 is based on, ran for three seasons. So, Archive 81 could return with Season 2 in an anthology format. For example, like The Sinner, changing the story and setting, but keeping main character Dan Turner played by Mamoudou Athie. Or, like American Horror Story, with a new cast and story each season. Archive 81 creator and showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine is strongly invested in the series and says she is “obsessed with mystery box shows.” Whether she makes Season 2, or creates a new show, it’ll be fun to watch. By the way, Dan Powell and Marc Sollinger, the authors of the original podcast, are working on a new one, called Wavelength, which will investigate a tech company’s conspiracy.
