At the end of the Maundy Thursday liturgy, the Blessed Sacrament of Christ's Body and Blood are removed from the chancel and placed on the side altar, which is decorated with greenery reminiscent of a garden. There it remains overnight until it is consumed at the Good Friday Liturgy. It is an ancient tradition for Christians to heed Jesus' call to his disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane to remain and watch with him, with individuals and families signing up for hour-long shifts. It is a quiet, beautiful, intimate, and holy time of prayer and devotion. Would you consider remaining with Christ and watching for an hour this Maundy Thursday?
