Making an Architectural Trophy with CNC Milled Maple and Cast Epoxy

Описание к видео Making an Architectural Trophy with CNC Milled Maple and Cast Epoxy

AIA|DC approached me to make a trophy for their affiliate donors in 2020. I documented how we came up with a design and how I made it in the shop.

I took their Adobe Illustrator file and converted it into a 3d model in Fusion 360. I then used the model to make my milling tool paths. I took my Fusion 360 generated g code to my cnc mill (a Shop Saber) and cut out all the critical parts with a Washington DC shaped pocket. I casted some Smooth-on epoxy into that pocket. Once the epoxy fully cured all I had to do was just out my trophies and sand down the surface to a clean matte finish.

If you are interested in the feeds and speed I used for this project check out the Fusion 360 file here: https://a360.co/2LpkAvo
