I’m thrilled to finally present this tribute to one of the most legendary figures in Hong Kong action cinema, Corey Yuen 元奎—a true master of action and fight choreography and one of my favourite HK action filmmakers.

Corey Yuen was a visionary, whose innovative, high-energy action sequences have left a lasting mark on the genre and inspired countless filmmakers and fans alike. His work redefined what action could be, blending style, precision, and storytelling to create scenes that are simply unforgettable.

Beyond his technical prowess, Corey has made a significant impact in empowering female action figures to carve their own paths within a male dominated genre. Films like Yes Madam (1985), She Shoots Straight (1990), Enter the Eagles (1998), and So Close (2002) to name a few, showcase his dedication to portraying powerful, captivating female leads, helping to reshape the landscape of action cinema.
