Looking back, if there really was some unconscious theme underlying all the sonatina, it was just the joy that they existed. I knew they weren't perfect. I knew the old university faculty would never approve, which was something that haunted the deep dark depths of my soul no matter how much I tried to ignore it.

The sonatinas existed. They weren't utter crap. I'm not saying they were good, but they weren't complete garbage, and I try to remember that.

Obviously, nobody is required to agree with me that the sonatina are any good. They could quite possibly be the worst kind of putrid tripe. I wouldn't know, and I try not to care. They exist. I could be the perfect hack, lacking anything resembling talent or ability, but they still exist, and that makes me happy.
