කමාන්ඩෝ විරුවන්ට අවාසනාව කැන්දූ ජයසිකුරු මෙහෙයුමේ මන්නකුලම් සටන | Worst Ever Commando Debacle (1997)

කනගරායන්කුලම් ඊසාන දෙසින් පිහිටි කුඩා ගම්මානයක් වන මන්නකුලම් එල්.ටී.ටී.ඊ.යේ බර අවිපොළක් ලෙස ජයසිකුරු භට පිරිස් විසින් හඳුනාගෙන ඇත. මෙහෙයුමේ තුන්වන සහ වඩාත් වෙහෙසකර අදියර දියත් කරමින් ශ්‍රී ලංකා යුධ හමුදාව එම ගම්මානය ඉලක්ක කළේ සටනේ අවසාන අදියරේදී යම් වාසියක් ලබා දිය හැකි සතුරු වෙඩි බලය නිෂ්ප්‍රභ කිරීමටයි. බොහෝ බලාපොරොත්තු ඇතිව, එම කර්තව්‍යය ඉටු කිරීම සඳහා කමාන්ඩෝ භටයින් යොදවා ඇත. නමුත් ත්‍රස්තවාදීන් නිර්දය ලෙස ප්‍රතිප්‍රහාර එල්ල කිරීම නිසා එම උත්සාහය වැරදී ගියේ රෙජිමේන්තු ඉතිහාසයේ මෙතෙක් සිදු වූ දරුණුතම කමාන්ඩෝ පරාජය සනිටුහන් කරමින්.

Mannakulam, a small village situated North-East of Kanakarayankulam has been identified as a gun position of LTTE by the Jayasikuru Troops. Launching the third and the most strenuous phase of the operation SL Army targeted the said village to nullify the enemy firepower which could yield a certain advantage in the latter stages of the battle. With much hope, commanders deployed Commandos to achieve the task. But the effort went awry as the terrorists ruthlessly retaliated resulting in the worst-ever Commando debacle in the history of the Regiment.
