Before I sold my second set E5 I did a special super long Hayabusa train 20 cars long. it was massive and was much too long for the platforms but still fun to run on my clubs massive layout. In total the 20 car train has 8 motors and 8 decoders. Although I had to only consist two addresses to control the whole thing.

I had to hard wire DCC into the power cars which are the ones with the pantographs, 2 per 10 car set, the cabs take standard Kato FL12 decoders. Surprisingly the Kato motor trucks are really well tuned and run together quite nicely. Although after an extensive period of time 8 motors fighting one another would wear themselves out quicker.
