Discovery 3, LR3 , Front Driveshaft removal

The gaiter on the front left hand side of my 2005 , right hand drive TDV6 Land Rover Discovery 3 was torn and some dirty oil was leaking from it.
I’d read that some people had difficulty removing the driveshaft from the differential to just replace the gaiters and ended up replacing the whole driveshaft anyway so seeing as it’s 13 years old and I really can’t afford to be without transport for a few days if I couldn’t replace the gaiter I opted to replace the whole driveshaft.
I must say thanks to Mike at Britannica Restorations Ltd who did a video on the sliding hammer a while back and so when I was at a show recently where a tool supplier had one for sale , I decided I’d buy it in case I ever needed in the future.
I really struggled with the driveshaft until I used the sliding hammer . 👍🏻
