The Sotetsu (Sagami Railway) Izumino Line is an 11.3km branch line of Sotetsu, which has a 44.4km line in Kanagawa Prefecture. The entire line, which connects Futamatagawa Station and Shonandai Station, opened in 1999. The original plan was to extend the route further and reach Hiratsuka City in southern Kanagawa Prefecture, but it seems unlikely that this plan will come to fruition.

Since it is a recently constructed line, most of the 11.3 km length is constructed as elevated tracks or tunnels, and it is characterized by the fact that there are no railroad crossings.

Many houses are being built along the line, but the population does not seem to have increased as much as originally planned. The reason for this may be that people's attitudes have changed since the era when the railroad was built, and more people prefer to live in high-rise apartments in the city center than to build detached houses in the suburbs.

This video contains footage from Futamatagawa Station to Shonandai Station.
