Are you looking for a great convertible sport fisher but hate ladders? Then come with me for a tour of this 1998 Luhrs 360 Tournament Boat. The hallmark of good design is that years later it still looks good and Mairead III looks good.
There's plenty of “V” on this boat. With high freeboard and bow flare forward she’ll slice through the chop and nosed through the swell just as nice as can be. She's balanced with the weights way aft and her attack angle is pretty steep, especially up wind with a pipe frame top providing plenty of windage and the heavily flared bow scooping up a lot of wind too. Lots of lift there.
The engine room was spacious, uncluttered and neat as could be. In fact, neater than anything else we've seen in a long time. Every piece of equipment was thoughtfully placed, every hose and wire routed and secured the way it should be. No one piece of equipment blocked access to another piece, and so on. Engineering wise, we find just about everything done the way it should be done, with little to complain about. The inline 6 cylinder diesels don't cramp the engine room too much and maintaining this boat will be about as easy as it gets.
It just may have the most usable counter space of any boat in its class and offers exceptional stowage both above and below countertop level. (In fact, the whole boat offers exceptional stowage.) In addition, a floor-to-ceiling cabinet beneath the flying-bridge stairway provides easy access to the electrical panel, color TV, and stereo, all of which are standard equipment.
The roomy saloon offers plenty of dining space across from the galley.
It's two steps down to the accommodations, where the 360 delivers comfortable sleeping for adults in the staterooms. Up in the forepeak, the roomy master has a queen-size island berth, his and hers cedar closets, three big drawers beneath the berth a hatch. In addition, the stateroom provides direct access to the head and its electric toilet, vanity, and separate shower stall with molded-in seating. All in all, the 360 features an impressive interior at an even more impressive price.
