Minister of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, Sindisiwe Chikunga, has made a call for the protection of women-owned businesses in the wake of the 30% US tariffs.

The Minister was speaking at the Women's Trade Dialogue in Sandton, Johannesburg.

The dialogue, held under the theme "Building Resilient Economies for All," is aimed at empowering women in the informal sector and enhancing their access to crucial funding and trade opportunities.

Minister Chikunga highlighted the government's efforts to support exporters, noting that the Department of Trade, Industry, and Competition is helping companies affected by the tariffs.

She says that the support will complement the ongoing diplomatic talks with the US to negotiate a reversal of the tariffs.
