My consulting business involves staff training. I remember the day when I submitted a training proposal to an organisation the director assumed my firm has nothing substantial to offer but after the training; she confessed my team impressed her with the training content and delivery. And to prove that she got value from the training, she invited my firm for another one.
Creating awareness to boost sales for your business is very important. It could take the form of person-to-person, through family and friends or media. Synonymous to marketing is promotion. You must develop your own strategies or adapt existing ones to ensure you publicise your services to the world (especially to your target potential clients).

THE SWOT ANALYSES
For effective marketing. You have to analyse the strength and weaknesses of your business. This is where the SWOT analysis comes in. Below is a brief explanation:
S- Strength: What are your selling points. The services unique you render other businesses like your own do not offer.
W-Weaknesses: The things that may discourage clients from patronizing you. Things like lack of office space, poor packaging of your services, not having an online presence, etc.
O- Opportunities: The chances you have to succeed. Things like belonging to a professional body on social media, having email addresses for sending out your e-proposals to target clients, etc.
T-Threats: Things that can hinder your marketing success. e.g. competitions and their prices, not registering your business with the regulatory bodies, etc.
After running your SWOT analysis, you will then re-strategize to put things in order to avoid marketing failure.
