New Orleans Day 5: Gray Line Oak Alley Plantation Tour, Cajun Pride Swamp Tours, Cafe Beignet

This video was a labor of love! Day 5 of Melissa's New Orleans trip was a busy day! She starts by having breakfast at the Hyatt buffet. Melissa had a couple of good dishes but overall the buffet wasn't worth the cost. Melissa did have a dining credit that brought the cost down to around $15 and Melissa felt that was a fair price.

After breakfast, she heads over to Gray Line ticket office to board the tour bus to complete the plantation and swamp boat tour. The bus was large and very nice. The air conditioning was nice and the guide was great. He shared lots of great information and the driver was also great.

After about an hour or so drive, they made it to Oak Alley Plantation. This plantation has a tour of the main house and examples of the cabins the slaves would have inhabited. They are continuing to grow and add more exhibits. They also have a nice gift shop, restaurant, bar, ice cream counter, gardens, and clean bathrooms. Melissa would suggest touring this estate.

After Melissa's time at Oak Alley, she boarded the tour bus and headed over to Cajun Pride Swamp Tours. It was around a 30-45 minute ride to this second site.

She boarded the boat for the swamp tour. On this tour, Melissa saw numerous alligators, raccoons, crawfish, snakes (don't worry in a jar ), birds, and some tours see pigs as well. Melissa did not see the pigs. She did get to pet a baby gator. The Captain of the boat was Tim and he was exactly what you want in a swamp boat captain.

After the tours, the tour bus took her back to the ticket office. Melissa walked over to Cafe Beignet and had some hot and fresh beignets and a frozen cappuccino. The cappuccino Melissa thought was very good and refreshing. Melissa thought the beignets were good, but she liked the ones at Cafe Du Monde better.

Melissa ends the video with her thoughts of the tours, buffet, and Cafe Beignets. Overall, Melissa highly suggests this tour either with Gray Line or booked on your own. #neworleans #beignet #foodreview #food #grayline
