In this video I go over the test kits I use to test the parameters of my salt water aquariums. I am using the red sea magnesium pro test kit to test the magnesium levels in my aquariums. I am using the API Reef Master test kit and the API Ammonia test kit for my other parameters. I test all of my aquariums every other week, unless there is an issue and then I may test for that particular level daily. Here are some suggested parameters for your reef aquarium.

Salt - 1.024-1.026
Temperature - 78-80 degrees
PH - 8.1-8.4
Alkalinity - 8-12 dkh
Ammonia- undetectable
Nitrite - undetectable
Nitrate- less than 1.0 ppm
Phosphate - less than 0.2 ppm
Calcium - 350-450 ppm
Magnesium - 1250-1350

Keep in mind that these numbers are just suggestions and different species of corals do better in different conditions. As always try to shoot for a stable aquarium. Consistancy is more important than a specific number. If you are within these ranges, your corals look healthy, and there are no wild swings then your doing just fine. Let me know in the comments if you guys test or not and what you test for. I didn't address it in the video but i would not recommend dosing your aquariums with anything that you do not test for.
