Nails after injury is quite common. So don’t panic. Whenever there is an injury to the most common thing is bleeding. So whenever something happens. just press and hold it tight till the bleeding stop. Second whenever you are pressing it like this you are reducing the damages or if you don’t stop the bleeding there is a large collection of blood and there is damage of the nail matrix. So whenever there is bleeding. The immediate thing is put pressure and put a micro pore or a gauze. So whatever pressure you put, the nail bed should look pinkish in colour. It should never blanch and never go white. As the old nail goes and the new nail comes this takes around 3 to 6 minimum because the nail growth is slow and whatever nail plate is hanging you can slowly trim it off. Third thing is you will have to use prophylactically some antifungal and antibiotic drops because you want to prevent infection so consult a dermatologist. Sometimes we also put you on systemic antibiotics. So based on the injury and extent of damage, we take a call.
