There are so many words to describe a beanie. When I first got into the industry, I didn't know what to call our products. And being the nerd that I am, I dove very deep in my research. Word origins... when beanie names where first put into use... as well as logical conclusions following the name. Like "fisherman beanie" probably means its the beanie of a fisherman.

But this time we dive into the question of what the watch cap is. It seems to be the most common term for this style of beanie used in most of the world. Of course the word "beanie" dominates all other searches on this topic, but when checking the search volumes on "fisherman beanie" vs "watch cap" most of the world prefers watch cap. Fisherman beanie is more common in Australia and South Africa.

Nowadays watch cap and fisherman beanie refers pretty much to the same thing, but the root of the name "watch cap" is something very specific, and easy to pin down. That is what we get to in this video.
