Hi everyone, and welcome to a new episode of #itsjustfeminism where we're trying to answer some very demure, very mindful questions related to immigration!

Today’s guest is Tammy, an immigration lawyer originally from Texas, US that works in San Diego, CA, US to talk about the US immigration policies, rights of assylum seekers, class barriers to legal help, and harmful stereotypes related to immigrant communities as seen on #trumpvsharris presidential debate*. We're also sharing personal immigration stories, and the story of how we met in the middle of Atlantic Ocean, so make sure to watch the whole thing to find out more! Thank you Tammy for this insightful conversation!

More about Tammy in her own words:
"Tammy is an immigration attorney, law clinic professor, and daughter of immigrants who spent her childhood in her family’s Chinese restaurants. Her family’s rich immigrant history and journey to the United States, along with her upbringing in Texas and the pressures of being the first American born “Lin” in her family, molded her understanding of both the best and worst of the United States’ history on immigration and diversity. She understands that it’s not always hard work that leads to success but often luck and being in the right place at the right time. As a woman, especially a minority woman, in the legal field, she’s persisted against dated perceptions of Asian women being “subservient” or “meek” and overcoming a still very patriarchal field. She’s hopeful to see more women and diversity in the legal field as well as being a part of the change by mentoring and teaching the next generation of WOCs in the immigration legal field."

*It's just feminism platform does not endorse any presidential candidate who is not doing the most they can for cease fire, to protect and progress the right of immigrants, workers, women, BIPOC, and 2SLGBTIQ+ or any other opressed communities, and to provide the acces to health care, education and information for all.

As always, be kind while sharing your opinions and experiences in the comments!

Lots of feminist love to you all,
Aurora
