Sky's the limit at the Battle Rally (Flying Upgrade, 10,900 points) [Pokemon Masters EX]

Remember what I said last week about how Water's a great type, but not having any Sprint or Field units makes it difficult to work with in Rally? Well, Flying's that to me, but it's a much worse type lol. It does have three units with Sprint or Field roles, but two of them I don't have and the third is still a few weeks away.

Thankfully the pattern this time around is a lot more cooperative than last week. Only two patterns repeat, and even if one of them is Field + Sprint, I have a lot more room to collect multipliers.

0:11 - Strike + Sprint vs. Flying-weak Hala: EX-R NC Silver / EX-R SS Gladion / NY Lance

Area 1 Strike + Sprint only has one possible pattern, and it doesn't repeat it, so I have to use these two master fairs early. Notice how this is the only one of the first four areas where I actually use a Flying-type lmao

1:29 - Tech + Support vs. Fighting-weak Karen: EX-R SS Silver / EX-R SS Steven / EX-R Tierno

SS Steven is my newest cake recipient, and I've been meaning to have another Tech + Support unit for a while now. I was deciding between SS Steven, NC Leaf, and SS Korrina, and the Nemona DC just made it a clearer decision lol.

3:18 - Strike + Tech vs. Together in an Unknown Land Battle Challenge: EX-R SC Barry / EX-R Classic Blue / EX-R Anni Lillie

Unlike many other patterns I've gotten in previous weeks, Strike + Tech only appears once here, so I had to select which units to bring. NC Cheren seemed like a shoe-in, but I wanted to save him for a later area in case I needed him for the upgrade bonus. I'm glad I got this stage early since it's a pain lol - it's meant for Rei and Akari.

5:44 - Field + Sprint vs. Ground-weak Aaron: EX-R Bede / EX Volo / EX-R Paulo

Why am I not surprised that I got a Sinnoh CS stage in the Field + Sprint area with no Flying-types in sight lol. This needed a bit of luck with the moves the opponents were choosing - there was more than one attempt that had a turn 1 poison proc from Cross Poison.

9:22 - Support + Field vs. Poison-weak Marshal: EX-R Variety Thorton / EX-R SS Morty / Support Pidgeot

Oh wow another Flying-type. I'm glad they made this combo a lot more common the past few months, but I somehow haven't gotten any of the new ones carrying it haha

12:25 - Strike + Field vs. Fire-weak Glacia: EX-R Mix Blue / EX-R Geeta / EX-R Akari

I was prepared to give up 150 points here for the upgrade bonus, but I very luckily got a stage that Mix Blue is a great counter to. Still needed good flinch luck though.

15:27 - Tech + Sprint vs. Water-weak Olivia: EX-R SS Wally / EX-R Classic Elesa / Darach

Huge tangent, but I'm so excited for the Fairy-weak stages in Damage Challenge hahaha. And one of them has Wally as the opponent!!! Kinda fun when one of the good picks is the rival itself (which is gonna happen in Hop's upcoming Fighting stage too haha)

18:38 - Field + Sprint vs. Dragon-weak Lance: EX Mix Red / EX-R SS Wally / EX-R NC Rosa

I was gonna use SST Red here and then I realized that his Electric Terrain would negate NC Rosa's sleep spam lmao. So I went with his paywall alt instead. I used best boy again for the debuffs and fast sync.

22:00 - Tech + Support vs. Holiday 2021 Battle Challenge: EX-R NC Serena / EX-R NC Calem / EX Lodge Serena

An Area 9 Battle Challenge is never fun, but thankfully this is one of the earlier ones. Still, Serena having to go for her physical build wasn't fun, and this still ended up cutting it very close even with the double frogs comp.

25:46 - Strike + Support vs. Thorton: EX-R NC Bianca / EX-R Penny / EX-R NC Blue (+ Ultra Jelly purchase)

Ultra Jelly my favorite Rally boost ever. Shame I needed it since without it I would've hit 11k points for the first time. Oh well.
