A former royal butler says Prince William is getting valuable experience as he steps up to serve King Charles during his cancer treatment.
Former royal butler Grant Harrold told GB News that the palace's public disclosure regarding the King's health is "unusual" but useful.
He claims it permits William, the Prince of Wales, and other senior royals, such as Queen Camilla and Kate Middleton, to take on greater responsibility.
"It's great that they've been so upfront about it. "That's really unusual," he remarked of Palace's openness about Charles' health after his cancer diagnosis.
"William, Kate, and Camilla are all stepping up, which is great. William stepping up is crucial because it will be his responsibility one day," he explained.
Harrold highlighted parallels with Queen Elizabeth II, who was also able to prepare for the throne by filling in for her father, King George VI, during his sickness.
He stated, "His grandmother had to step up when her father, George VI, died of cancer. Unfortunately, he passed away due to cancer. But she had the opportunity to step in for him on several occasions and develop the part, so she knew what to anticipate.
"It's critical that William does the same because you don't want, something happening to the King and William saying, 'What do I do?'" So it's excellent that he's gaining experience.
