To go up there for the most sportive is to climb the many stairs to reach the top of the castle hill. This will allow you to wander through the alleys from the Old Nice, to climb up little by little on the heights. You will be rewarded for your effort when you reach the top.
For the less motivated or less sporty, you can take the elevator. Located 1 Rue des Ponchettes, it is open every day of the week from 10 am to 5:30 pm.
For any lover of French and Italian culture, Nice is the perfect hybrid. Long affiliated with Piedmont and Liguria to the east, Savoy to the north and Sardinia to the south, this city only joined France in 1860 and has always kept one foot in Italy.
One of southern France’s largest port cities, Nice is found on the warm climes of the Mediterranean coast, in the shadow of the Alps.
Nice's position in the heart of the French Riviera gives it access to all of the famous Côte d'Azur names such as Monte Carlo, Monaco, Cannes and Antibes.
Each year, the Nice Carnival, famous all over the world, takes place here. The natural beauty of its landscapes have captivated generations of great painters and artists.
