Im researching different methods of analog video transmission using various transfer protocols. The video features the conversion of a HDMI signal from a Roku Ultra streaming box. The video is processed via a HDMI2AV converter that performs a digital to analog conversion operation through the embedded microchip. The signal is then passed through the analog interface by means of RCA cable. Next a Left Hand Circular Polarized LHCP antenna propagates the signal through the air medium connected on the transmitter.

The corresponding Polarized NTSC/PAL signal is then picked up by the video receiver. A comparison is made between using different antennas. When the antenna used is LHCP a clear signal is present regardless of the orientation of both transmitter as well as receiver. However when the cheaper stock linearly polarized antenna is used there is a noticeable difference for how the signal appears between how the antennas are oriented between one another.

Lastly the signal is fed in via AV cable in FPV goggles that display the image as seen towards the end of the video.

Although the image quality can be perceived as lesser when using analog image transmission as compared with digital, there are additional benefits with analog images such as extremely low latency as well as relatively low cost. Furthermore there are added benefits such as a predictable interference in the image that degrades more slowly over time whereas the digital signal transmission often breaks up all at once.

FPV systems can rely on circularly polarized antennas for clearer signal as well as be used for transmitting signals with the speed of light. Unmanned aerial vehicles i.e. UAVs can particularly benefit from analog signal transmissions as low latency is crucial for their operations.
