Starting with version 5.3, Mavuika and Citlali will headline the Phase One banners, while Arlecchino and Clorinde will debut in Phase Two. The placement of Lan Yan remains unconfirmed, but given her ties to Liyue, it’s likely she’ll feature in the second phase to coincide with the Lantern Rite Festival.

Some may wonder why two new 5-star characters are being introduced in a single patch. This aligns with the new update structure: starting with version 5.3, all new characters will debut in the first half of a patch, with their banners available throughout its duration. Consequently, Mavuika and Citlali’s banners will go live on January 1st, ending a day before the version 5.4 update. However, this rule does not apply to rerun banners, which will still last for 21 days. As such, Arlecchino and Clorinde’s banners will launch on January 20th, ending on February 11th.

For version 5.4, no official announcements have been made regarding new characters. However, leaks suggest a female Inazuma character, Kimitsuki Ayano, might make her debut. This name, derived from Chinese translations, is not yet confirmed. Additionally, Madame Ping is rumored to join the roster, though the rarity of both characters remains unclear. It’s possible only one will be a 5-star, as releasing two back-to-back 5-star characters could be excessive.

The remaining three banners in 5.4 are likely to be reruns. One Archon is confirmed for a rerun, with Venti or Furina as strong candidates. Venti hasn’t had a rerun in a long time, while Furina last appeared in version 4.7, making either a plausible choice. For the other two rerun slots, Xianyun and Sigewinne are strong contenders. Meanwhile, fans speculating about Wriothesley may be disappointed, as his rerun seems to be delayed yet again.

Looking ahead to version 5.5, three new characters—Iansan, Ifa, and Mavis (the prison girl)—are potential candidates. While their rarities remain uncertain, Mavis is rumored to be a 5-star. It’s likely one of these characters will serve as the patch's featured 5-star, similar to Chiori’s release. Among them, Ifa seems the most likely candidate. This leaves room for three rerun banners, with one Archon confirmed.

The remaining Archon is Furina, and it’s unlikely Hoyoverse will skip her, given the strong sales from her previous banners. A Furina rerun in version 5.5 seems inevitable. For the other two rerun slots, Wriothesley might finally get his long-awaited first rerun unless delays persist—similar to Shenhe, who didn’t rerun until version 3.5. The final slot could feature Emilie, who seems like a fitting choice.
