Описание к видео Black communities have been buying land, building towns, and fighting for homeownership❣️

For generations, Black communities have built, protected, and invested in real estate—often against all odds. AND too often, these stories are left out of history. Today, I want to highlight some of the incredible Black-led real estate initiatives that have shaped homeownership, community development, and economic empowerment.

🏡 Mound Bayou, Mississippi (1887) – Founded by formerly enslaved people, this all-Black town created its own economy with banks, schools, and businesses. A true model of Black self-sufficiency.

🏡 Greenwood (Black Wall Street, Tulsa, 1921) – Before the massacre, this was one of the wealthiest Black communities in America. But what’s often overlooked? Survivors REBUILT without government assistance. Black resilience in action.

🏡 NAREB (National Association of Real Estate Brokers, 1947) – When Black realtors were locked out of the National Association of Realtors, they created their own organization to help Black families achieve homeownership. Their impact continues today.

🏡 Community Land Trusts (CLTs) – CLTs, like the Houston Community Land Trust, are still creating pathways to affordable homeownership, ensuring long-term housing security for Black families.

🏡 Buy The Block (Today’s Movement) – Black investors and entrepreneurs are reclaiming real estate, buying and developing properties to keep wealth in our communities. Less gentrification, more ownership.

Real estate has always been at the heart of Black history and economic power. The legacy continues today❣️
