The Adagio Sostenuto movement of Beethoven's Sonata op 27 no 2, played on a Grotrian Steinweg upright piano built 1921, with original hammers and strings. The mellow tone of this classic piano seems ideally suited to the first movement of the Moonlight Sonata, which Beethoven asked to be played with the dampers raised giving the piano sound an echoey radiance, he also asked for it to be played very softly throughout.
